In metaphase the nucleus has lost its nuclear membrane and the chromatids and centrioles and chromatids attach themselves to the developed chromosomes and then to the spindle fibres at the south and north of the cell's equator.

In anaphase the chromatids that attached themselves to the chromosomes separate.
