Sickle-cell anemia is an example of a codominant trait. In sickle cell anemia, hemoglobin isabnormally shaped, which prevents normal oxygen carrying and delivery via red blood cells. The allele for sickle-cell is HS, and the allele for normal hemoglobin is HN. An individual, who isHNHN has normal hemoglobin, while an individual who is HSHS has abnormally shapedhemoglobin. However, an individual who is heterozygous for normal and sickle-cell (HNHS) hasboth types of hemoglobin. The heterozygous individuals also exhibit a resistance to malaria. A woman who is heterozygous for the hemoglobin gene marries a man with sickle-cell anemia. What are the parents’ genotypes? What are the chances their offspring will have sickle-cellanemia (HSHS)? That the offspring will be heterozygous (HNHS)? That the offspring will havenormal hemoglobin (HNHN)? Use a Punnett square to show your work.

If you answer clearly and long you will get the brainless mark.
