How does shared characteristics help scientists determine evolutionary relationships?

A shared character is one that two lineages have in common. Because organisms evolve from common ancestors and then diversify, the logic is stating that the more shared characteristics two organisms have, the closer their evolutionary relationship is.

- it is described as the transfer of genes from one population to another population so that frequency of gene is increased.

-a grassfire randomly sweeps through a population of buffalo and kills most of the animals.
