How does physarum makes decisions (ie describe the process that i goes through when choosing a food)?

Physarum polycephalum is a slime mold and it is often found inside decaying logs. It looks out for bacteria or spores, grows on then and digest them through its body. It basically crawls towards its food, encloses it, and release enzymes to digest the food.
