In biology, ecological succession is a term used to determine the changes which occur from the formation of a pioneer community to the formation of a climax community in an area. There are two main types of ecological succession. Primary succession is the development of a community in an area where there were no signs of life before. Secondary succession can be described as a type of succession where there was life before which had been eradicated due to disasters such as fire, flood etc.
