Lamarck’s process of thinking the evolution as a scientific process, and his failure to explain the correct process helped future scientists to think more logically.  

In the previous years, the scientists that gave some ideas about the evolution were all mere stories. Stories of God, aliens and some even more fairy tales were told to gave logic behind the evolution.  

But Lamarck for the time gave some scientific explanation about the organisms and evolution. The theory of use and disuse of organs was explaining well, except some of the cases. Moreover his failure excluded one possible way of evolution, which led Darwin propose the other theory.
