Certain environmental changes can denature proteins. denatured proteins lose their three dimensional structure and when the protein is an enzyme, they lose their ability to function. ph is just one factor that can change the effectiveness of an enzyme. what other factor might the students test regarding catalase specificity?

a) students could test various other enzymes to see if all enzymes were denatured in a basic environment (ph = 13).
b) after determining the optimum ph, they could vary the temperature of the environment to see if catalase is temperature specific.
c) after determining the optimum ph, the students could vary the amount of catalase used while keeping the amount of substrate constant.
d) students could test an assortment of food items besides liver, raw potato, apple, crackers, to see if catalase is consistently ph specific.

Coat color in cats is determined by genes at several different loci. at one locus on the x chromosome, one allele (x ) encodes black fur and another allele (xo) encodes orange fur. females can be black (x x ), orange (xoxo), or a mixture of orange and black called tortoiseshell (x xo). males are either black (x y) or orange (xoy). bill has a female tortoiseshell cat named patches. one night, patches escapes from bill\'s house, spends the night out, and mates with a stray male. patches later gives birth to the following kittens: one orange male, one black male, two tortoiseshell females, and one orange female. what are the genotypes of patches, the stray male, and the kittens?

Which statements best describe the differences or similarities between a comparative investigation and an experimental investigation? check all that apply. experimental investigations are best for showing cause-and-effect relationships, while comparative investigations do not necessarily show this type of relationship. comparative investigations are often impractical and unrealistic, while experimental investigations are the most practical and realistic kinds of investigations. comparative investigations allow for the use of a wide range of variables but do not have a control group, while experimental investigations involve variables that can be controlled. both experimental investigations and comparative investigations are designed to answer scientific questions. both experimental investigations and comparative investigations focus on making observations rather than collecting new data.
