What do you notice about the width of an artery wall versus the width of a vein wall? why does this make sense given the function of the vessels?

Explanation:

The two main blood vessels which transport the blood in the body are known as arteries and veins.

The arteries carry the blood away from the heart whereas the veins brings the blood from the organs and limbs to the heart.

Since the arteries have to carry the blood away from the heart so it has to face the high blood pressure of the blood pumped by the heart. For this, arteries posses thickened walls which allow absorbing the pressure and the arteries do not rupture.

The veins bring the blood from the body with low pressure and thus the wall of the vein is very thin and large lumen.

Thus, Arteries- thickened wall, small lumen and Veins- Thin-walled, large lumen are correct.
