Why is it advantageous for the cell membrane to be fluid in nature?

The advantage of cell membrane being liquid is that it helps to prevent cell

breakage or injuries.

Cell membrane is a vital part of the cell as it contains important compounds

such as cholesterol, cholesterol, phospholipids and proteins. The cell

membrane is semi-permeable and it  helps in the selective movement of

particles/compounds such as oxygen,carbon dioxide and nutrients in and out

of the cells.

The cell membrane being fluid in nature is a very big advantage as it helps

to prevent cell breakage or injury caused by stress from external factors.

Rigid cell membrane would have led to a lot of disruptions and cell deaths

and would have threatened the survival of organisms. It also favors

movement of important molecules which is also instrumental to the cell's

functioning.
