Ipurify acetyl coa carboxylase (acc) from etiher recently-fed or starving mice. the acc from the fed mice shows a lower km and higher vmax compared to acc from the starving mice. what is the best biochemical explanation for this?
a.) feeding causes glucagon release; glucagon interacts with acc causing a change in the conformation of the acc, converting it to a more active form
b.) feeding causes activation of phosphatases that dephosphorylates acc, converting it to an active form
c.) feeding causes an increase in the formation of malonyl coa which acts as an inhibitor of carnitine acyl transferase, which decreases beta oxidation and an increase in fatty acid synthesis
d.) feeding causes release of insulin which increases rates of glycolysis and tca, resulting in increased accoa production, which activates acc.
