The superior colliculi are the nuclei present in white matter of the midbrain and serve as visual reflex centers. These nuclei are involved in the coordination of eye movement when we follow a moving object.  

The dopamine-releasing neurons present in the substantia nigra of midbrain regulate the body movement.  

The cardiac center and respiration center (chemoreceptors) present in medulla regulate the heart rate and breathing rate respectively.  

The pneumotaxic center of the pons is a nucleus involved in the regulation of inspiration and expiration during respiration and thereby regulate the rate of respiration.
