What does "phase m" in cell biology stand for? choose one of the below alternatives. a) the period of time of the celll cicle which corresponds to the development of the cell b) the period of time of the cell cicle in which the dna is duplicated c) the period of time in which the cell goes towards mitosis d) the period of time in which the cell goes towards meiosis if i may share my own attempt, two sources i consulted state the phase m is the period of time in which both mitosis and cytokinesis happen. in this case, it could only be alternative b for 1) there would be no development of the cell, 2) phase m would already include mitosis and therefore couldn't "go toward" it, and 3) for including mitosis cannot involve meiosis. i'd be satisfied with this answer wasn't for the fact i'm not sure if phase m really refers only to mitosis + cytokinesis. it appears the phase is named after the reproduction process, which starts with the letter m but meiosis also start with the letter m and since mitosis has a name for its phase nothing more normal to expect that meiosis would have too and that it would also be called phase m. this makes me unable to answer the original question altogether. hope you can .
