Describe the impact of deforestation of both abiotic and biotic factors within the tropical rainforest.

Deforestation affects entire ecosystems, including the organisms that live in them.

In rainforests, deforestation has devastating effects. Wildlife diversity, for instance, tends to decrease as species are displaced from their natural habitats. Animals go to new places in search of shelter and food. In many cases, they die of hunger or are threatened with extinction due to the spread of diseases.

Deforestation also affects rivers, different streams of water and the soil. The soil, which provides essential nutrients for vegetation, is exposed to more sunlight and heavy rainfalls that erode it. Erosion makes the soil drier and infertile.

Deforestation affects biotic as well as biotic components of the ecosystem.

Deforestation adversely reduces the biodiversity of the forest as they are the primary producers in the forest ecosystem.

Effects on abiotic factors:

It changes the water quality of nearby rivers, lakes, and other water sources.  

In addition, it increases the temperature of the water bodies as a shadow or cooling effects of trees are no more present.

The quality of air keeps on deteriorating with increasing deforestation as trees are the natural air filters.

It increases the events of soil erosion and with the entire ecosystem may turn into barren land.
