The information contained within the gene is copied into a new molecule by the process of transcription. Transcription is a process by which the information from one strand of DNA is copied into a new molecule called messenger RNA or mRNA. Protein molecules include DNA and RNA and the genetic information is copied into the protein molecules by the process of transcription and translation. Transcription is a process by which the information coded in DNA is transferred to RNA, where as translation is a process where mRNA provides information for the Ribosome the type of amino acid to link with.
