Well the first step is mechanical breakdown which is you chewing the food. The saliva helps to break down the food in your mouth with enzymes. You can make that more fun and put it into a story. Next it goes down the esophagus where it is passed from the mouth to the stomach. Stomach does some breakdown with enzymes. Stomach moves the food to the small intestine. It then moves from the small intestine to the large intestine or the colon. Then it exits through the anus.
