Remember, mitosis is the process where a single cell divides resulting in generally two identical cells, each containing the same number of chromosomes and genetic content as that of the original cell.

Mitosis:

1. Interphase- Two sister chromatids centrosomes have replicated.

2. Prophase- Chromosomes condense, and spindle apparatus begins to form.

3. Prometaphase- Nuclear envelope breaks down. Microtubules contact chromosomes at kinetochores.

4. Metaphase- Chromosomes complete migration to middle of cell.

5. Anaphase- Sister chromatids separate into daughter chromosomes, which are pulled to opposite poles of spindle apparatus.

6. Telophase- Nuclear envelope re-forms, and chromosomes de-condense.

Cytokinesis:

1. Cell division begins- Actinmyosin ring causes plasma membrane to begin inching in.

2. Cell division is complete- Two daughter cells form.
