To go in depth,  its important that those people in interior design consider such things before beginning to build so that the home or room is put to full use. Take a kitchen for example, a interior designer nay make various choices in a kitchen based on its WxLxH, and its relative place in a home. They wouldnt want to build a fireplace in the middle of the kitchen and not have room for a sink, would they? Look at some videos of home designers/renovators and they explain this in more depth and why these things are to be considered when designing the interior (and exterior!) of a home.
