Jazz was all over the place in harlem during the you could hear it in dance halls like the savoy, renaissance, and roseland ballrooms. you could hear it in nightclubs like the cotton club, connie’s inn and small’s paradise. it was jazz that to a large degree drew white america to harlem to get a voyeuristic taste of the exotic world of the african american. 1920’s and 1930s 1910s and 1920s 1950s and 1960s 1970s and 1980s

well seeing i am an artist and i actually did a self portrait; i will describe how i painted it.   i used acrylic on a stretch canvas about 4 feet wide by 6 feet tall. i painted myself smiling in a soft pink long dress, white tile floor sitting on a white couch with a table behind and a vase of gorgeous flowers.   i also had a round white hat with a soft pink ribbon through it laying on the floor and on the table behind me was a lit candle. i kept it simple but soft and romantic.
