After an arsonist set the Garden Walk Apartments on fire passers-by became heroes when they heard screams and stopped to help the residents escape the flames.

Six people, including a pregnant woman and two young girls, were forced to jump from the building where they were, thankfully, assisted by the Good Samaritans who stopped to help. WSB-TV reported witness Paris Heard said, "… we actually caught the kids, [and] then once the kids were down got the mother to jump down. She was the last one to jump. Once we got them all down, we got all of them over to the side."

Although the blaze left families displaced, not one life was lost and the two girls were uninjured.
