Text Questions Please complete the following questions. It is important that you use complete sentences and present the questions and answers when you submit your work. Submit the work as a file attachment. This means you will complete all work in a word processing document (e. g. Microsoft Word) and attach the file using the Submit Text Questions activity in your Course Map. Objective Your main objective is to clearly show how one common theme can be expressed in at least three different ways, by using three different art mediums or tools. The theme of your work will be “the artist’s studio”. You will need to create three different works of art that all resemble your interpretation of an artist’s studio. All three pieces will stick with the common theme but will be created using different tools, materials, or styles. Instructions Begin brainstorming about what you imagine an artist’s studio to look like. Will you create your dream art studio? Your current art studio? Or perhaps, the art studio that you think your favorite artist would work in? There is no right or wrong when it comes to your actual “artist’s studio”. Get creative! You will decide which three mediums and/or art tools you will use. Your choices include: pastels markers crayons charcoal colored pencils tempera paint watercolor oil Paint acrylic paint ink wash Each of your three pieces must follow certain guidelines. You must create one piece that has a monochromatic color scheme. You must create one piece that uses only warm colors. You must create one piece that uses only cool colors. Write a summary and reflection answering the following questions: How were you able to show the same theme while using different materials or mediums? Explain. Which medium did you feel best let you show your vision of an artist’s studio? What were the harder parts and easier parts with each medium? Which color scheme did you feel worked the best in your creation of an artist’s studio? Which worked the least well? Why? Why did you choose to use the materials/mediums that you did? Are there other mediums you would like to try if you were asked to do this project again? Why? Extra Notes You can really let your imagination run wild with this activity. You can create any kind of art studio that you can imagine – as long as the basic theme of an artist’s studio is shown in each. Your pieces do not have to all be exactly the same – you may choose to create three different art studios. Or, you may choose to re-create the same art studio three times using the different mediums and color schemes. You also have flexibility (choice) when it comes to style. Do you want to create an abstract take on the artist’s studio? A modern approach? Impressionistic? Or maybe you simply want to put the pencil or paintbrush to paper and let your style evolve (change) as you go! You will be graded on your ability to create three different art pieces that clearly keep the same theme, as well as your summary and reflection. For more details on how you will be graded, please check out the rubric below.
