According to Dr. Brekka's lecture, Nick Cave's Soundsuit is relevant in relation to fashion, textile, and yarn work. It can be understood in the context of the artist's personal story, gender roles, and the traditional arts of Africa. Beyond these elements, this work presents a tension between two very different media--that is, wire/fiber optics and yarn. Brekka relates it to a work we studied in the introductory module, Her Secret is Patience.
