Site 1 has a very low community diversity value because it is largely dominated by a single species; however, one of the rare species found there is so rare it is found in only one other park. Site 2 lacks this particular rare species, but has much higher diversity values because it contains more species than Site 1 and none of the species is particularly dominant.
