Traditionally, in the framework of in-person orientation programs, a person is assigned to guide a new employee through the orientation. This approach implies face-to-face communication between a new employee and an assigned individual(s) from the company about the matters included in the orientation (even if it is via phone- or video calls).  

Computer-based orientation (or online orientation) on the contrary excluded face-to-face communication of this kind and relies on computer tools to reach the goal of orientation.
